The Korea Consumer Association's probe has found the engine control unit software is to blame for the numerous cases of BMW sedans bursting into flames here in Korea. <br /> This goes against what the German automaker has insisted... which said, the fault is in its exhaust gas recirculation hardware module. <br />The investigation group claims BMW has updated its engine control unit software,... which has enhanced its engine performance and fuel efficiency,... but also put its vehicles at a higher risk of fire. <br />The association, comprised of experts from the legal and auto sectors, has been carrying out its own independent investigation. <br />The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has called for a fresh probe to look into all the possible causes of the fires. <br />
