Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has been named the Men's Player of the Year by European football's governing body UEFA.<br /> He was crowned at the ceremony for this season's Champions League group stage draw on Thursday. <br />It follows a year in which he won the Champions League with Real Madrid and helped steer Croatia to the World Cup final for the first time.<br />He edged out the likes of Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah. <br />
