The relatively short bullet (7.92 x 33mm cartridge) fired by the MP43/44 made it particularly suitable for use with the device.<br /><br />Aiming proved problematic until the appearance, in December 1944, of the prismatic sight developed by Zeiss.<br /><br />Trials of this weapon system were still in progress even as Germany collapsed in the spring of 1945.<br /><br />This footage shows the infantry version of the device (Vorsatz J), which deflects the flight of the bullet through 30 degrees.<br /><br />The tank version (Vorsatz Pz) deflected the bullet through 90 degrees, although bullets fired through it generally fragmented due to the stresses involved.
