<br /> According to Reuters, former Chilean President Michelle Bachelet is now at the United Nations.<br />Bachelet is now serving as the High Commissioner for Human Rights for the UN.<br />She was chosen by Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to succeed Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein of Jordan.<br />The UN General Assembly approved Bachelet's appointment last month.<br />On her first day in office, High Commissioner Bachelet called upon Myanmar's government to release two reporters who were jailed on the same day. <br />
