<p>A San Diego-based firefighter couldn’t resist challenging a local retirement home’s keenest ping-pong player to a game on August 28, though his 101-year-old opponent proved to be more than a match for him.</p><p>The firefighter, Nick Plancich, spotted the elderly woman playing the game by herself while he was assisting another elderly resident who was in need of emergency services.</p><p>He was told that the 101-year-old woman was “always looking for a worthy ping-pong opponent,” and when Plancich finished assisting the patient-in-need into an ambulance, he returned to the elderly athlete and challenged her to a game.</p><p>According to Facebook post from the Department, the elderly woman “proved to be a winner,” and can be seen winning a point in footage shared.</p><p>The video of a rally between the unlikely rivals was shared to Facebook on August 29, and it had over 877 shares at the time of writing.
