UNITED KINGDOM — A 4-year-old girl is recovering after contracting sepsis from trying on new shoes without socks. <br />According to the Sun, Sienna Rasul became really sick the day after trying on a several new shoes with bare feet. <br />Doctors think the bacteria may have been in the shoes. Sepsis can develop if bacteria enters the body through an open wound. <br /><br />According to the Mayo Clinic, sepsis occurs when chemicals released into the bloodstream to fight infection trigger an inflammatory response throughout the body. <br />Physicians believe Sienna may have had a cut or wound on her foot that let the bacteria in.<br />Little Sienna spent five days on an antibiotic drip in the hospital with her mom by her side. <br />Luckily she's out of the woods and has been allowed to go home, but is still being monitored.
