The fast-moving Delta fire continued to burn on September 6, forcing evacuations and shutting down a main highway as firefighters fought to contain the blaze.<br /><br />According to local media, the fire was reported just before 1 pm on September 5. Burning dangerously close to Interstate 5, several drivers were asked to leave their vehicles as the fire spread, with a few charred by the flames that encroached.<br /><br />The Delta Fire consisted of three blazes and burned 15,294 acres near Interstate 5 by the Vollmers Exit just north of Lakehead, according to the U.S. Forest Service.<br /><br />Officials said human activity is involved in the starting of the fire, but no further information is available.
