The United States and India have signed a military cooperation deal that had been under discussion for more than a decade.<br /> The agreement was reached on Thursday in New Delhi between the foreign and defense ministers of both countries. <br />It would allow for the sale of sensitive U.S. military hardware to India and also opens the door to a communications network between the militaries of both nations. <br />Washington and New Delhi see each other as a useful partner in checking China's ambitions in Asia and as an ally in counterterrorism efforts.<br />But early attempts to reach a deal were stalled due to India's hesitation to open up its communications network to the U.S. military. <br />
