MURICA — In the United States alone head lice causes around six to 12 million infestations a year in children between the ages of three and 11. <br /><br />According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, head lice is primarily spread by direct contact with the hair of an infected person. <br /><br />The most common way to get head lice is through head-to-head contact at places like school, home and outdoor sports or camp activities. <br />Lice can also be spread when sharing personal care items like combs, brushes, towels and hats. <br />According to the CDC, head lice should be treated with a pediculicide, a medication that kills head lice, that has an ovicidal effect meant to kill head lice eggs.
