This is the moment a girl was electrocuted by a fallen power cable on a flooded road - before a hero ambulance driver saves her.

The nine-year-old pupil named Jane Ramirez was walking home with her two siblings in Bulacan, Philippines, on September 6, when she tried to step over the live electric line.

But she was zapped by the current after standing on the wire - and slumped face first into the ground which had 20cm of rain covering it after heavy downpours.

The girl's mother ran out screaming in panic and tried to help her daughter - but she was hit by the force of the electricity and also knocked to the ground.

A male resident was seen on CCTV running over to help without success after he too was stunned by the electrical current passing through the water.

However, passing ambulance driver Danilo San Pedro stopped to help. As the girl's mother used a piece of wood to push away the fallen cable, Danilo was able to drag the school girl to safety.

He said: ''I did not think twice about what had happened. I just wanted to save the girl at all costs.

''When I saw her lying there on the ground I only had one thought. I knew I had to reach her and bring her to safety.''

Resident Pamela Salinas said the youngster was immediately taken away to the hospital and she has been released and declared fit and well.

Pamela said: ''The child is in her home. She has a little scar but she is fine. The doctors have done tests on her in the lab to find out more about what happened.''
