Tourists were fascinated by the sight of a small bird cleaning the face of a buffalo bull. <br /><br />The footage, filmed on August 30 in Kruger National Park, shows an oxpecker bird picking the forehead and nostrils of a buffalo as the mammal remains still.<br /><br />The filmer writes: ''The buffalo understands the benefits of this bird and happily tolerates it.<br /><br />''It is amazing to see and understand that there is always a purpose for everything living in the African bush.''<br /><br />Oxpecker birds live in association with medium to large mammalian herbivores. <br /><br />The smallest hosts range from warthogs to impala and the largest to rhino, hippo and buffalo. <br /><br />These birds spend their daylight hours picking and consuming parasites out of the pelage of their hosts.
