This was the terrifying moment an overloaded boat with 29 passengers sunk in a flooded river. <br /><br />The incident occurred near Koraon town in Allahabad district of Uttar Pradesh state, India, on September 7. <br /><br />Eyewitnesses said the boat, which was ferrying people across Belan river, was overloaded.<br /><br />The crew could not steer with the weight of 29 passengers on board and the boat soon started drifting in the strong current. <br /><br />Passengers panicked and a few of them jumped into the water upsetting the balance so the boat keeled over and sunk. <br /><br />A few passengers swam to the shore and many onlookers jumped to the water to save others. <br /><br />Local police said two passengers were missing. They mounted a search operation and on September 8 found the body of Kailsah Keshri, 34, a vegetable seller from a nearby village. <br /><br />The search for the other person is still ongoing.<br /><br />A senior district official, Shivani Singh, said action would be taken against the ferry operators.
