Climate shocks 'key driver' behind rising global hunger: UN

A report by the UN says global hunger has increased during the past three years, following a decade of declines. <br /> According to the analysis, 821 million people worldwide were undernourished in 2017 - up from 804 million in 2016.<br />Last year's figure is equal to about one person in every nine going hungry.<br />The UN report attributed the rise to climate shocks, such as droughts and floods, as well as conflict and economic slowdowns.<br />The authors called for coordinated global and local action so countries become more resilient to climate-related disasters. <br />
