Former "Sesame Street" writer, Mark Saltzman, worked for the preschool TV program for 15 years.<br />He recently gave more insight into the popular characters Bert and Ernie's relationship. In an interview with Queerty he explained, "I always felt that without a huge agenda, when I was writing Bert and Ernie, they were [gay]."<br />CNN reports that he started writing for the show in 1984 and based their sketches on his own relationship with his now-late partner, Arnie. <br />
