<p>A young female jogger was brutally stabbed to death in Washington D.C. this Tuesday evening, days after getting engaged.</p><br /><p>The woman, Wendy Karina Martinez, 35, was the victim of a “random attack” according to local authorities. While her wounds ended up being fatal, Martinez made a final and heartbreaking attempt at saving her own life when she stumbled into a Chinese restaurant, covered in her own blood, to beg for help.</p><br /><p>Terrifying surveillance footage shows the moment Martinez rushed into the eatery and collapsed in front of the counter.</p><br /><p>Scared customers are seen jumping out of her way before realizing she is injured, and rushing to her side.</p><br /><br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> PHOTOS: <br /> London Attack: Woman Killed & Five Others Injured In Brutal Stabbing<br /> <br /> </a><br /><br /><br /><p>Chief of Police Peter Newsham said in a press conference this Wednesday that the now-censored video shows bystanders trying to revive Martinez while waiting for EMS to arrive.</p><br /><p>Martinez was transported to a nearby hospital following the senseless stabbing and was pronounced dead soon after.</p><br /><p>“This is one of those types of unsettling incidents that sometimes happens in large cities, but it seems like a singular incident,” said Newsham.</p><br /><p>The killer, who was caught on tape fleeing the scene in a mustard-colored sweatshirt has now been arrested.</p><br /><p>The knife he used to attack Martinez was found at the scene.</p><br /><br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> PHOTOS: <br /> See 25 Photos Of Evidence That Got Jodi Arias Convicted Of Murder<br /> <br /> </a><br /><br /><br /><p>“Wendy Karina Martinez was the light of our lives. Not only was she an avid runner, but she was a devout Christian, a wonderful friend, and a driven professional,” Martinez’s family said in a statement obtained by NBC 4 Washington, following her death.</p><br /><p>“Everything you hope that a daughter and a friend would be. She was also excited to be planning her upcoming wedding to her fiancé, Daniel Hincapie.
