According to CNN, the F-35 jet fighter is poised to make it's combat debut.<br />On board the USS Essex amphibious assault ship, the F-35 is expected to enter combat via the Marine Corps.<br />Although the new jet fighter is already in service, Lockheed's F-35 Lighting II is still waiting for it's first combat mission.<br />But a defense official said it will be on station in the coming days for missions the Middle East. <br />
