Electronic cigarettes are not replacing regular cigarettes according to local research released on Thursday.<br /> The National Tobacco Control Center found that electronic cigarette users also smoked regular cigarettes instead of completely switching to electronic ones, increasing their overall amount of smoking. <br />The survey was conducted on more than two-hundred smokers last year and the results were published in the British Medical Journal in August. <br />Electronic cigarette users said they chose to use electronic cigarettes thinking they are less harmful and with intention to quit smoking.<br />Other research done earlier this year on some five-thousand-five-hundred smokers found that 98 percent of electronic cigarette users also smoked regular cigarettes. <br />
