Hundreds of students took to the streets of Barcelona this morning to back up the results of the region’s banned referendum for independence which took place last year. <br /><br />Footage captured this morning, October 1, shows dozens of protesters waving Catalonia pro-independence flags at plaça Universitat in the region’s capital.<br /><br />More protests have been called later today to commemorate the vote crushed by the Spanish police crackdown in which hundreds were injured at polling stations.
