Inside the Afghanistan clinic that delivers more than 60 babies a day

2018-10-02 1 Dailymotion

Afghanistan is still struggling to recover from years of war. One consequence of decades of conflict has been the toll on healthcare. The country has one the world’s highest infant and maternal mortality rates. But humanitarian organisation Medecins Sans Frontieres has been working to change that. It opened a maternity hospital in the southeastern city of Khost in 2012 and it became an overnight success. On average, more than 60 babies a day are born there and it’s on track to deliver 24,000 babies by the end of 2018. Locals have dubbed it Afghanistan’s ‘baby factory’.
