폼페이오 '4차 방북결과' 들고 방중... 평화협정 논의 주목<br /><br /> The U.S. Secretary of State is making one last stop before returning home.<br />Mike Pompeo visits Beijing, to brief his Chinese counterparts on the outcome of his fourth visit to the reclusive regime. <br />Park Hee-jun has the full story. <br /> It's the first time U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has briefed China following right after denuclearization talks with North Korea. <br /><br /> Departing from Seoul,... he arrived in Beijing on Monday afternoon.<br />Pompeo is meeting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his predecessor Yang Jiechi,... but not President Xi Jinping.<br />He will share with them the details of his recent visit to Pyeongyang.<br /><br /> "I do want to share with you my visit with Chairman Kim Jong-un yesterday, the progress we made,... to make sure we are working together on our joint mission we've talked about before-- the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."<br /><br />And also on the table,... is believed to be a peace treaty ending the armistice.<br /> Upon beginning his Northeast Asian tour,... Pompeo said that once they reach a conclusion to the nuclear negotiations,... they will sign a peace treaty,... and that China will be part of that process.<br />Never before has the U.S. officially acknowledged China as a relevant party,... an act believed to be a way to gain support from Beijing.<br /><br />This visit in itself is considered extremely rare,... especially with the ongoing trade tensions between the two countries.<br /> Attention now centers on how China views what Pompeo called a "good and productive" meeting,... and how Beijing will cooperate on North Korea's denuclearization process.<br /><br />Park Hee-jun, Arirang News. <br />
