Hurricane Michael Could Be a Category 3 Storm When It Hits the US Michael, which spun up in the Atlantic, is currently grazing Cuba and Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Forecasters expect it to hit <br />Florida’s northern Gulf Coast <br />by late Wednesday. The NHC says Michael could be Category 3 or higher by then, with winds in excess of <br />110 miles per hour. Storm surges are expected be <br />7 to 11 feet in some areas. Michael is also expected to pass through the city of Tallahassee, which has a population of 382,000. The state's Governor, Rick Scott, has declared a state of emergency for <br />26 counties and ordered 500 members of the <br />National Guard to activate.
