New Sony President Gives Update on the Next Playstation Console Kenichiro Yoshida says the successor to the PlayStation 4 is
"in the works." Yoshida took over Sony earlier this year from Kazuo Hirai, who stepped down in February. Sony CEO Kenichiro Toshida, via
'The Financial Times' Yoshida stopped short of calling the console "PlayStation 5," but it's widely expected to
be the name. PlayStation division head John Kodera also said back in May that Sony will take the next three years to work on the console. This puts the Playstation 5 on track
for launch somewhere in the
vicinity of 2021. Rather than focusing on
streaming games over
the internet — a la Netflix, rumors say Sony is apparently working on a more powerful box for running prettier games.
