The termination of MMC-Gamuda’s contract to build the underground portion of the MRT Line 2 (MRT2) was a decision made by the Cabinet, says Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.<br /><br />On Oct 7, Lim said Cabinet had decided to terminate the MMC-Gamuda contract to build the underground portion of the MRT2 project, adding that all unfinished underground work would be re-tendered via an open tender process.<br /><br />However, following protests from Gamuda that the decision would result in job losses affecting about 20,000 workers, Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said on Oct 9 that the government would reconsider the decision.<br /><br />Read more at: https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2018/10/17/termination-of-mmc-gamuda-mrt2-contract-a-cabinet-decision/
