Health Supplements <br />Found to Contain Hidden Drugs A recent study found that from <br />2007-2016, the U.S. Food and <br />Drug Administration (FDA) issued <br />warnings about 776 different supplements. The study published in <br />JAMA Network Open, is <br />the first to aggregate the <br />hundreds of FDA warnings. The supplements <br />analyzed contained <br />“undeclared, unapproved <br />pharmaceutical ingredients." Supplements for sexual <br />enhancement, weight loss, <br />or muscle building accounted <br />for 98% of the FDA's warnings. Viagra, a banned <br />weight-loss drug and <br />synthetic steroid-<br />like ingredients It's estimated that <br />more than half of U.S. <br />adults take dietary supplements. A doctor-recommended way of <br />avoiding unwanted ingredients in <br />supplements is to purchase <br />single-ingredient products.
