After a two-year delay, China has opened the world's longest sea-crossing bridge connecting Hong Kong, Macau and the mainland.<br />President Xi Jinping attended an inauguration ceremony at a new port terminal in the southern Chinese city Zhuhai, along with the leaders of Hong Kong and Macau.<br />The bridge spans 55 kilometers and includes an undersea tunnel, cutting travel time across the Pearl River delta from several hours to just 30 minutes.<br />The nine-year project cost 20 billion U.S. dollars and claimed the lives of at least 18 workers and injured hundreds more. <br />
