According to Allure, the FDA ordered the removal of lead from hair color formulas.<br />Over 40 years ago, lead acetate was approved as a color additive of hair dyes.<br />But FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb said our understanding of lead exposure has significantly changed since then, which is why lead acetate no longer meets safety standards.<br />Commissioner Gottleib added that lead exposure can have serious adverse effects on human health, especially children. <br />
