The United Nations First Committee has passed three resolutions that call for North Korea's denuclearization on Thursday.<br />The resolution was motioned by Australia,... and it condemns North Korea's nuclear tests and calls for its complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization.<br />It also demands the regime comply with UN Security Council resolutions and emphasizes the need for diplomatic efforts on the nuclear issue.<br />Two Japan-sponsored resolutions, urging the North's total elimination of nuclear arms and for a nuclear-free society, were also passed.<br />South Korea voted in favor of Australia's motion,... but abstained from Japan's, as they were not in line with Seoul's interests. <br />
