Chris Cornell's Family <br />Sues Former Doctor <br />Over Frontman's Suicide The grunge music <br />pioneer died by <br />suicide in May of 2017. The suit claims that Dr. Robert <br />Koblin "negligently and repeatedly" <br />prescribed "dangerous mind-<br />altering controlled substances." The family says <br />the prescriptions <br />impaired Cornell, and "caused him to engage in <br />dangerous impulsive behaviors <br />that he was unable to control." During the <br />final 20 months <br />of Cornell's life, Also known as Ativan,<br />it's used to treat anxiety by <br />working on the central nervous <br />system to produce a calming effect. The suit claims that Koblin <br />didn't perform any kind of <br />assessment on Cornell <br />before prescribing the drug. An attorney for Koblin <br />said his treatment "was <br />within the standard of care."
