CHINA — A woman had just moved back to China from California when tragedy struck.<br /><br />A woman surnamed Lee, said her 8-year-old golden retriever was hated by her neighbors in China. She said they routinely threatened to kill her dog, reports The Shanghaiist.<br /><br />Lee claims they added rat poison to chicken meat and spread it on her lawn where her pet used to play.<br /><br />Lee said the dog ate just one bite and ended up dying a few hours later, screaming and crying, fighting to survive.<br /><br />Lee said she took her case to the Chinese authorities but they dismissed her case, saying that hundreds of dogs die by poison on a daily basis.<br /><br />She said that a number of Chinese netizens were accusing her of damaging the reputation of China.<br />Lee said she and the golden retriever were planning to relocate to Europe next year. <br /><br />However, she will now fight for her dog and other animals as China currently has no laws to protect animals.
