Google Maps to Alert Drivers Over Collisions, Speed Traps The new features let drivers <br />submit data regarding incidents <br />they encounter while commuting, such as accidents and slowdowns. It will also alert <br />fellow Maps users <br />to their presence. The add-ons follow the rollout of a 'Group Planning Feature' released in September. Many predicted Google would implement the 'Collisions' feature after the acquisition of traffic app Waze in 2013. User submitted data is considered to be a big reason why Waze became <br />popular enough to be bought out. There's no word yet if they will roll out everywhere or if Google is just <br />testing it out.
