The world’s first underground luxury hotel was opened in Shanghai yesterday (November 16).<br /><br />The drone video shows the spectacular view of the 336-room InterContinental Shanghai Wonderland hotel which is in the side of an 88-metre-high abandoned quarry.<br /><br />According to reports, 16 floors of the hotel are underground and only two floors are above it. <br /><br />The bottom two floors are completely submerged underwater and customers can see a ten-metre-deep aquarium through the glass walls.<br /><br />Planning for the subterranean hotel began in 2006, but construction didn't begin until 2013.<br /><br />The hotel’s room charges starting at around £380 per night, reports said.
