South Korea and China are resuming their joint patrols on illegal fishing activities in the West Sea.<br /> According to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries on Tuesday,… the two sides have decided to conduct joint inspections in the jointly-managed provisional water zone.<br />The joint patrols have been on hold since 2016 when the Korean Coast Guard used force to seize a Chinese vessel fishing illegally in Korean waters,… resulting three Chinese fishermen dying from smoke inhalation. <br />Each country's coast guard will monitor operations by unregistered ships, violations of territorial waters and obstruction of official duties in the zones.<br />Some 200 Chinese boats have been caught for illegal fishing activities this year,… down 12 percent from a year earlier. <br />
