According to CNN, the wife of a jailed British academic has called for the UAE to recognize their misunderstanding of her husband's activities.<br />Matthew Hedges, an academic of Middle Eastern studies at Durham University in England was arrested in Dubai in May.<br />UAE officials arrested Hedges at Dubai International Airport on suspicion of espionage.<br />Hedges was held in solitary confinement for almost six months before being released on bail last month.<br />But a hasty trial culminated in a guilty verdict with a life sentence.<br />The 31-year-old Hedges and his wife have repeatedly denied allegations of spying, but prosecutors in the UAE insist the academic confessed. <br />
