Indian officials chase drug-addicted elephants

This is the moment Indian forest officials chased two elephants that had raided a brick kiln looking for intoxicants.<br /><br />They drove the elephant mother and her calf back to the forest by chasing them with a jeep and bursting crackers. <br /><br />Many wild elephants in Western Ghats, India, are addicted to the palmyra trunks, which they find intoxicating. <br /><br />They often come out of the forest looking for the trunks, which are used as fuel in brick kilns. <br /><br />On November 21st the two elephants raided a brick kiln near Coimbatore in South India and tried to break a wall to get in.<br /><br />A couple, who lived near the kiln, ran for their lives and informed the forest department, which immediately dispatched a patrol team to the spot.
