The European Union is expected to join Japan in filing a complaint with the World Trade Organization against South Korea for subsidizing its shipbuilding industry.<br />According to the WTO on Sunday, it was notified last Tuesday by the EU that it wants to participate in settling disputes with Seoul and Tokyo on the matter.<br />Japan initiated a complaint earlier this month arguing that Korea's government-backed loan guarantees and insurance for large domestic shipbuilders hit hard by a downturn... violate WTO regulations.<br />Japan says the measures hurt its own shipbuilding industry by suppressing prices and reducing sales volume in the international market. <br />
