Whilst on a whistle-stop fishing tour of the UK, visiting and fishing with some of his social media contacts, I managed to spend a few hours on the banks of the Warwickshire Avon with Alessio, aka on instagram as tiber_angler. He is an Italian angler who loves to fish in the style that UK anglers favour.
We settled in to the "barbel swim", as Alessio is a passionate barbel angler, and set our stall out to catch our whiskered friends.
The river conditions were perfect, the Avon slowly rising with a fresh influx of warm rain water that had been falling for the previous few days, infusing the water with a tinge of colour.
Alessio baited up with hemp and boilie chops using a bait-dropper in the faster flow whilst I went with my usual groundbait and pellet tactics.
Alessio's barbel PB was 7lb 11oz that he had caught a few days previously whilst fishing with Richard "the_barbel_ninja" on the Severn. I was convinced that, if we managed to catch one from the moody Avon, he would break it as this stretch does not throw up too many below that size.
The waiting began....

Thanks for watching and tight lines.

Nic

All music in this video is courtesy of Blue Dot Sessions (www.sessions.blue)
