Rival parties fail to agree on new date to vote on 2019 budget plan

South Korea's rival parties have failed to set a new date to vote on the government's 2019 budget plan.<br />The floor leaders of the three main political parties met on Monday in hopes of agreeing on a new date,... after they missed the December second deadline.<br />With deliberations incomplete...., the proposal was referred to the plenary session in its original form on December first -- as stipulated under the National Assembly Act.<br />Currently, representatives of the three main parties on the assembly's budget committee are continuing their deliberations.<br />However,... it's unclear when the bill will be ready,... given there are still areas of contention,... including... spending for job creation and inter-Korean projects.<br />Eyes are on whether the National Assembly Speaker will use his authority... to convene a plenary session today,... and introduce the budget bill in its original form,... while waiting for parties to complete their negotiations and draw up a new version. <br />However, the opposition is against the idea,... saying the plenary session should take place only when the parties are ready. <br />
