Successful Full Face Transplant Completed at New York Hospital The surgery was performed on <br />Cameron Underwood, a 26-year-old man who suffered <br />the injuries as a result of a <br />self-inflicted accidental gunshot. Doctors say Underwood lost most of his <br />lower jaw, teeth and nose. He also damaged his maxillary and palate. A team of over 100 medical professionals at <br />New York University Langone <br />completed the surgery. The procedure, which was <br />performed back on January 5, 2018,<br />lasted 25 hours. NYU Langone specialists say they have performed several follow-up procedures on Underwood since then.
