After a couple of weeks of unseasonably warm and persistent rain, turning the usually sedate Avon into a torrent of "coffee", the precipitation abated and the river began to return to a more co-operative condition just in time for my usual Friday afternoon session.<br /><br />On arriving I found the river in fantastic fettle and it looked perfect for some winter action. However my heart sank as I took the water temperature, noting a fall of 1.5 degrees over the previous 48 hours.
