Michigan Is the
First Midwest State to
Legalize Recreational Marijuana The new law
took effect
on Thursday. It makes Michigan the
tenth state to legalize the
drug for recreational use. The law requires the
marijuana to be bought in stores. People 21 and older may
keep up to 10 ounces
of pot in their homes. The law also allows the
growth of up to 12 marijuana
plants for personal use. Critics of the law say
it will make Michigan the
"marijuana capital of America." They contend the possession
limit of up to 2.5 ounces is "too much." Scott Greenlee, Healthy and Productive Michigan,
via CBS News The Michigan
possession limit
is the highest
in the country.
