President Moon Jae-in has admitted that,... while South Korea's economy now has solid indicators at the macro level,... indicators regarding people's livelihoods are still underperforming.<br /><br />"We've yet to tackle economic polarization and the difficulties that small businesses and the self-employed face. Regions, where traditional industries such as shipbuilding, auto, and steelmaking took a hit, are suffering as well. Prosperity through inclusive growth cannot be reached without solving such problems."<br /><br />In order for South Koreans to tangibly feel the economic accomplishments of this administration, President Moon said it's necessary to promptly revitalize the local economy.<br />He called on his Cabinet to actively support the local government, especially in terms of upgrading infrastructure, and manufacturing, as well as deregulation. <br />He made the remarks at a Cabinet meeting,... which for the first time since his inauguration,... was held in the administrative city of Sejong. <br />During his stay in the city, President Moon will also be briefed by the education and labor ministries on their 2019 policy plans. <br />
