Tom Callaghan is off to the Barossa Valley for two weeks holiday but agrees first to escort Kate and a pregnant woman to Broken Hill. Two businessmen bribe the pilot to take a short detour and things turn horribly wrong when a bird strikes causes the plane to crash in the middle of nowhere. A distraught Geoff refuses to believe he has lost Kate for good.
