Screen Time Heavily Impacts
Kids' Brains, Says Study Preliminary results reveal that
the brains scans of adolescents
with more than seven hours
of screen time look different. The brain cortex
of these
kids showed
premature thinning. The brain cortex is the outermost
layer of the brain that processes
information from the physical world. Early results showed that kids
who have more than two hours
of screen time score lower
on thinking and language tests. The $300 million study
is called Adolescent Brain
Cognitive Development (ABCD). It's being funded
by the National
Institutes of Health (NIH). Scientists will follow
several thousand
nine to ten year olds
for more than a decade. Gaya Dowling, NIH study director, via 'Bloomberg'
