According to CNN, the ornamental mace in the British parliament was taken in protest during a contentious hearing.<br />The five-foot silver-gilt mace is the ceremonial symbol of royal authority in the British House of Commons.<br />Without the ceremonial civic mace, the Parliament cannot greet or pass laws.<br />The mace was taken in protest by Lloyd Russell-Moyle, a member of Parliament with the Labour Party. <br />
