Women's Breast Cancer
Risk Is Linked to Childbirth A new study found that women
who have recently given birth
are at more of a risk
for breast cancer. Published in 'Annals
of Internal Medicine,' For five years after giving birth,
breast cancer chances were
80% higher than in women
who did not give birth. The risk was even
higher for women who had
a family history of the disease. Researchers from the
University of North Carolina
Lineberger Comprehensive
Cancer Center made the link. The findings contradict
past research which
suggested a lower breast
cancer risk after giving birth. The new study found that
"protection" from breast cancer
occurred 23 years after giving birth.
