S. Korea becomes member state of UN Commission on Int'l Trade Law

South Korea has become a Member State of the UN Commission on International Trade Law, a UN subsidiary that aims to further the harmonization and unification of the international trade law.<br />According to the country's Permanent Mission to the UN,... on Monday, local time, the General Assembly elected South Korea as a member for a term of six years from 2019 to 2025.<br />Members serve for six years, but the terms of half the members expire every three years.<br />The commission was established in 1966 by a General Assembly resolution and comprises five regional groups: Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Western Europe and Latin American and the Caribbean. <br />
