<br /> Steve Carell is in a new movie: “Welcome to Marwen.”<br />The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis, who directed “Forrest Gump.”<br />This is the real-life story of Mark Hogancamp.<br />He is beaten so terribly by five men outside a bar in 2000 that it left him without most of his memory of the event and everything before then.<br />They attacked him because he was a cross dresser, making this a hate crime.<br />Mark suffered severe brain damage after the attack.<br />He found a sense of solace by tapping into his creative skills to assemble an exquisitely detailed 1/6-scale town called Marwen.<br />The town is made up of dolls representing himself, friends, and his assailants.<br />The Wrap said the film was unable to connect it's subject with the film's audience. <br />
