And on to one of the top Global news stories for 2018.<br />Remember the "Thai cave boys"?<br />The miraculous rescue of 12 Thai boys and their football coach who were trapped in a cave for...17 days this past summer... made headlines across the world.<br />For a recap of the massive search and rescue operation, our Hong Yoo reports. <br /> <br /> In July, the world watched on as a youth football team was dramatically rescued from a remote flooded cave in northern Thailand. <br />12 children and their coach were rescued from the Tham Luang cave, where they were stranded for 17 days.<br />On June 23, the youngsters, aged between 11 and 16, and their 25-year-old coach enter the Tham Luang cave during a heavy monsoon rain. As the cave flooded, they got lost and became trapped deep inside the cave.<br /><br /> Their rescue story amazed the world as all of them were found alive, despite their precarious situation and furthermore, the dangerous location they were found at. <br />The event resulted in one fatal casualty. A former Thai Navy SEAL agent died underwater due to lack of oxygen when he was placing extra air tank inside the cave. <br /> Three months after their rescue, Manchester United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward invited the boys to watch their favorite team play Everton at Old Trafford. The boys even got to meet the players including Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera.<br />After their rescue, the boys received many invitations from all over the world. They appeared on the U.S. talk show Ellen during which they met with a star Swedish soccer player, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.<br />Tom Waller, a Thai filmmaker, was inspired by the incredible story and decided to adapt the events leading to the miraculous rescue into a movie.<br /> Titled The Cave, Nang Non, the film is expected to be released next year.<br />Hong Yoo, Arirang News. <br />
