Top presidential aides questioned over alleged civilian surveillance

South Korea's National Assembly is grilling senior members of the Moon administration over the top office's alleged illegal surveillance of civilians.<br />President Moon Jae-in's Chief of Staff Im Jong-seok,... and his senior secretary for civil affairs, Cho Kuk, are fielding questions from lawmakers -- over their alleged involvement.<br />The scandal exploded when a special inspector from the prosecution claimed he illegally gathered information civilians while working for the top office.<br />The Blue House strongly denies the allegations.<br />Im said there has been no spying whatsoever for political purposes,... and the allegations are a distortion of the truth.<br />He apologized for not being able to screen out such a person in the first place.<br />Cho echoed Im's remarks saying he will accept any criticism and hopes the session will shed light on the truth. <br />
