South Korea's National Security Council says 2019 will be critical to solving the denuclearization issue and establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula. <br />Chaired by National Security Advisor Chung Eui-yong, the members reviewed the security situation in the region and said Seoul needs to take the lead in improving relations between North Korea and the U.S.<br />On the dispute between Seoul and Tokyo over a Japanese patrol plane's recent low-altitude flight over a South Korean naval ship,... the council vowed to take steps, if needed,... against what could be a serious violation of safety protocols or -- even a threat from Japan. <br />
